Bill & Qadesh at Thunder Run, June 26th, 2004

Qadesh had suffered from Glaucoma for the past several years, but could still see. She passed away in my arms at 2 PM, Friday afternoon, July 23rd, 2004, after sharing my bed each night for a little more than sixteen years.  She will always be the love of my life.

QADESH, The World's Most Unique Siberian Tiger,

passed away in my arms at 2 PM on Friday, July 23rd, 2004,  while being anaesthetized for examination for suspected intestinal lymphoma that was believed to have spread throughout her body. Her days were numbered, and would have been filled with pain, so although it grieves me greatly to say so, her passing was timely.

We wish to thank everyone for their support in this time of great personal loss. Qadesh had personally brought joy and love into the lives of more than three million people in her lifetime, and her efforts and sacrifices on behalf of her species, both in captivity and in the wild, will never be equalled, let alone surpassed.

In her memory we ask that all those who can do so take on her commitment to not only do what she could to raise the public's awareness of the immanent extinction of tigers in the wild, but to improve the quality of life for those living in captivity.

We also ask that those of you with the capacity to do so assume her commitment to support at least one foster child through World Vision, and, if possible, to also pay the costs, just $23 Canadian funds per month, of curing at least one child every year of Leprosy through the World Leprosy Mission.

Thank you.
